With over two decades in Human Resources and an honours degree in Industrial Psychology, I’ve had the privilege of shaping HR strategies across diverse industries.

My journey began in mining, where I cut my teeth in the Training Department developing junior managers. This led to an exciting opportunity with a major passenger transport company, where I initially served as a Selection Officer conducting psychometric assessments. After advancing to Head of Selection, I innovated our recruitment approach by bringing assessments directly to our eight branches – a move that both improved candidate performance and streamlined our processes.

During this time, I enhanced our selection toolkit and analyzed the predictive validity of our assessments. As Personnel Manager, I later broadened my scope to encompass HR administration, performance management, and job architecture. A particular highlight was implementing a participative management system that brought employees into the conversation about operational challenges.

One of my proudest achievements was leading a comprehensive Survey-Guided-Feedback initiative that ultimately sparked a company-wide strategic planning exercise. When the company underwent an acquisition, I played a key role in establishing new employment frameworks and personnel regulations.

My next chapter took me to a utility company as HR Manager, where I had the exciting challenge of building an HR function from scratch. Here, I modernized the payroll system for 1,600 employees, introduced a structured job grading system, and successfully managed industrial relations. (Speaking of IR, I still smile remembering a shop steward’s unexpected compliment during a disciplinary hearing where I was the “plaintiff”!)

Today, I’m passionate about creating positive change through employee engagement. I’ve seen firsthand how involving team members in decisions that affect their work not only boosts satisfaction but drives organizational success. As a consultant, I partner with clients to build resilient teams and create environments where both people and organizations can flourish.

In our rapidly evolving business landscape, I focus on practical solutions in job architecture, performance management, and succession planning. My collaborative approach helps organizations navigate change while keeping their most valuable asset – their people – at the heart of the strategy.
